3rd Party Utilities

Dave Patton for many years maintained a website of 3rd party utilities to either work directly with OziExplorer via the API, or to work with OziExplorer data files (map, waypoint or track files).  Dave passed away in 2016.  Some of the links to utilities from Dave's website are listed below.

• APRS for OziExplorer by Darryl Smith
  Part of a GIS system that allows moving objects to be tracked in real time and displayed on networked computers.
  • OziDialer by Darryl Smith
    Allows a user to dial into a cellular modem, and view GPS data in real time in OziExplorer, as if they were connected directly to the GPS.

• GeoConv by Eino Uikkanen
  GeoConv is a coordinate conversion program, which converts between different coordinate file formats, coordinate types and datums. It can convert an OziExplorer Track file to an Ozi Waypoint file, and an Ozi Route file that uses those waypoints.
• GPS Visualizer by Adam Schneider
  Create SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) map images or profiles from OziExplorer track and waypoint files.
• GPSBabel Sourceforge Project
  Converts waypoints from one format to another, whether that format is a common mapping format like Delorme, Streets and Trips, or even a serial upload or download.
• IndexMap by John Tserkezis
  A tool that is used purely for cosmetic purposes. It operates similar to the Oziexplorer "Index" view function, but on the normal Oziexplorer view window so it can be easily exported into a BMP or PNG image.
• Map Selector by Peter Eisenhuth
  Do you have more maps than will fit on a single CD or into your handheld? Map Selector is a program to select maps and their associated images and copy them to a directory of your choice. It will select all maps that include one or more waypoints which are in waypoint or route files. Free for all to use. The link above requires you be a member of the OziExplorer user forum on Yahoo.
• MakeImage by John Tserkezis
  Uses Oziexplorer to save map images in PNG or BMP format. Useful if you have a bunch of map files in OZF2, ECW, SID or some other format that is not supported by your image editor.
• MAP2PPC by John Tserkezis
  Cleans up oziexplorer MAP files.
• Mapborder by John Tserkezis
  Mapborder is a tool that enables easy maintenance of Oziexplorer map borders. Oziexplorer can create and maintain only four corner markers, but can support up to 100 corner markers for odd-shaped map images. This is where Mapborder comes in, it enables easy creation and maintenance of the more elaborate borders.
• Ozi DAT Control Panel by John Tserkezis
  A graphical front-end for many of Oziexplorer's DAT files that enable certain features and functionality.
• OziArrows by Rob Thomas
  A tool for drawing vector arrows in OziExplorer.
• OziClipboard by Rob Thomas
  A simple utility to copy the latitude and longitude or the last point you double-clicked on in OziExplorer to the windows clipboard for later copying into a document.

  This utility creates a polygon around a trackline.
• OziMapSelect by Greg
  Allows you to select which maps sets to include and just picks maps that overlay a given geographic area (based on Lats & Longs). It copys them to a selected directory and then you can stick them on your PDA or memory card.

  This utility is an attempt at facilitating the use of OziExplorer in a network context to a limited extent.

  A range-ring drawing tool for use with OziExplorer.

  A sunrise and sunset calculator for OziExplorer.

  Adds a waypoint at the current position on pressing a key on the numeric keypad.

  Generate height profiles from Ozi track(.plt) files.
• PLS for OziExplorer by Rob Thomas

• plt2dem by Grzegorz Chyla
  plt2dem is a program that creates digital elevation models (DEM) from OziExplorer .plt and .wpt files.
• Track Profiler by Tomo Krajina
  TrackProfiler is a small free utility for exporting GPS track profiles into PNG images.

• oziTarget by Sean Kavanagh
  oziTarget is an extension to the popular mapping tool Oziexplorer. It has been written to give competition balloon pilots the extra tools needed in preflight planning and during flights.
