  Australia Topographic 250K Digital Maps DVD

We have developed an Explorer 250K Digital Maps DVD incorporating data which is © Commonwealth of Australia (Geoscience Australia) 2008. The maps on the DVD can be used standalone with the viewer included on the DVD or used with OziExplorer and OziExplorerCE mapping software.

The primary map on the DVD is a 1:250K topographic map of Australia.  It is supplied in both ECW format (this format can be used with most mapping software) and OZFx3 (see Additional Map information below).  Also included is a Landsat 7 Satellite map of Australia and 3 topographic maps of Australia at other scales, all in ECW format. The maps are mosaic maps covering all of Australia.

Most mapping software supports ECW format. The map viewer supplied on the DVD can load and view all the maps on the DVD.

Additional Map on the DVD

All maps on the DVD can be used in OziExplorer and OziExplorerCE.  An additional 1:250K map in OZFx3 format is supplied on the DVD.  OZFx3 is a tiled format optimized for use in OziExplorer, OziExplorerCE GPS mapping software and the map viewer included on the DVD. The size of the 1:250K map in OZFx3 format is 1GB, it will fit on a 1GB SD Card.

Installing the Maps

The DVD has 2 install options for easy installation;

• Option 1 - installs the viewer and maps for standalone map viewing. The viewer has additional features including a names search database, area calculation and the ability to add map features and comments to a map.
• Option 2 - installs only the maps to the OziExplorer maps folder (OziExplorer must be installed).  The maps can be immediately used with OziExplorer or copied to a PDA / navigator for use in OziExplorerCE.
