Using a Garmin USB GPS with OziExplorer

(This is a Garmin GPS with a USB data transfer interface not a Garmin connected to USB via a Serial to USB adapter.)

OziExplorer Version 3.95.4 or later is required, earlier versions of OziExplorer do not support this interface.

On the COM Tab - you must tick the checkbox "Garmin USB".

My PC only has USB ports (does not have a serial port), how do I connect my GPS

space12h.gif (36 bytes)

You need to purchase a USB to Serial Port adapter. These come with a driver which will add a virtual serial port to your PC.

You need to note the port number which is configured by the adapter. (if you do not know, check the port number in Windows Settings / Control Panel / System / Device Manager)

In OziExplorer configuration, select this as the serial port to use.

See the GPS Receivers section of the OziExplorer Help for the other configuration settings.
